The thermal conductivity of high alumina bricks is different from that of clay bricks and silica bricks. The thermal conductivity of high alumina bricks decreases with the increase of temperature, and the higher the Al2O3 content in the high alumina bricks, the more the mullite and the corundum crystal content, then the thermal conductivity decreases with the increase of temperature. But at 1000 degrees Celsius, the relationship between the Al2O3 content and decrease in the softening temperature of the load is not obvious. The thermal conductivity of fire clay brick and silicon brick increases with the increase of temperature in a linear relationship, and does not change near 1000 degrees Celsius.
At room temperature, the thermal conductivity of high alumina bricks is 2-3 times higher than that of fire clay bricks, but above 1000 degrees Celsius, the thermal conductivity is basically similar. The main disadvantage of fire clay bricks is that the softening point of load is low. The reason is that the fire clay brick will produce a large amount of liquid phases at lower temperature, making the use temperature low. The kind of refractory bricks with low Al2O3 is similar to fire clay brick. But with the increase of Al2O3 content, the softening point of the load increases gradually. These characteristics of high alumina bricks make them suitable for high temperature parts of glass melting furnace. The kind with low porosity can be used in high temperature parts of regenerator, such as the top and upper wall of regenerator.
